The United Kingdom is considering responding to a request from the US government regarding the extradition of Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks, after his arrest in London.
The police took Assange, in the custody of the Embassy of Ecuador, this Thursday (11), where he had been in asylum for about seven years.
Police arrested Assange for not attending an interrogation at a British court in 2012 while on bail. It also detained him in connection with the request for extradition demand from the United States.
The US government said Assange is accused of conspiring with a former US Army analyst to access a computer network with confidential data in March 2010.
The former US intelligence analyst was found to be a convicted defendant for theft of some 700 documents and for providing them to WikiLeaks.
The complaint says Assange could face a maximum sentence of five years in prison if found guilty.
