On Thursday (15), the decree of President Jair Bolsonaro on the reduction of IPI (Tax on Industrialized Products) rates on video games, console accessories and parts.

Approved by Decree No. 8.950, of December 29, 2016, the decree provides for the amendment of rates in the Table of Incidence of the Tax on Industrialized Products (TIPI). Until then, they ranged around 20% to 50% and were reduced by between 16% and 14%.


The intention to reduce taxes for electronic games was approached several times by Bolsonaro on his Twitter account. Last month, the president even called the Counter-Strike player to address the issue and analyze the reduction later this year
