A Huawei announced on Friday (23) that it foresees a reduction of US $ 10 billion in its smartphone revenue in the year. For the Chinese company, in a way it is a positive scenario, considering that the manufacturer's cell phone business has been heavily attacked since May and that Huawei's chief executive had predicted a $ 30 billion loss in June.
“It looks like it will be a little less than that. But you will have to wait for our results in March, ”said Eric Xu, Huawei's vice president, at a news conference. The Chinese's 100 billion business depends largely on the smartphone sector. For that reason, US restrictions have impacted the company's revenue so much.
Huawei is now racing to launch its own operating system, called “Harmony OS ”, in preparation for the worst case scenario: that of being banned entirely from business with the USA, and consequently losing access to Android. And as much as the company is advanced in this development, "a reduction in sales of more than 10 billion dollars could happen", explained Xu.
Huawei's consumer business group reported revenue of 349 billion Yuan (about R $ 202 billion) in 2018.
