The Farias Brito System has opened registrations for the second edition of Start SFB, a competition for the creation of startups. Students from all schools in the country, from the age of 12, from Elementary School II and High School.

Organized by the Farias Brito System, the competition aims to discover and develop students innovators throughout Brazil. At inscriptions go until May 28th.


The Farias Brito System is a pedagogical method originating from the union of two large Brazilian educational groups: Editora Moderna and the Farias Brito Educational Organization, which is available in more than 300 educational institutions in Brazil.

The project also has the support of the educational group Santillana and DreamShaper, a learning platform used by students in the competition, responsible for guiding students through practical teaching experiences. DreamShaper is aimed at elementary, middle and high school students and was created to help teachers implement or improve their teaching methodologies.

The competition

The creations developed during Start SFB will be evaluated by a team of judges composed of professionals and entrepreneurs experienced, who will consider the ideas from the point of view of used technology, socio-environmental impact, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, innovation, concept and viability.

It is not necessary to have previous experience, since the competition wants to develop knowledge about the theme in the participants.

For Ribamar Francisco Monteiro, director of the Farias Brito System, the realization of the second edition of Start SFB shows the importance of fostering entrepreneurship for young people. “It is a pleasure to hold another edition of this competition and get to know the countless entrepreneurial talents of Brazilian students. Start SFB revealed great ideas in 2020 and, this year, we want to know even more innovative solutions ”, he stressed.

The winners of the first three places will win iPhones, iPads and Kindles and the big winner, chosen by the public, will be entitled to an Echo Dot (virtual assistant from Amazon).

Competition stages

In the first stage, students will have contact with business models, problem validation and phases of creating a company. The development of the projects will take place from May 31st to July 1st.

The next stage will be on July 7, when the judging team will choose the 16 most innovative projects (8 in each category).

There will be three students per team. Between the 12th and 23rd of July, the mentors will assist the finalists in their presentations and on the 24th of July, there is the so-called Demo Day, in which the young people will present their projects for the final evaluation. The results will be released on August 8.

The process will be done completely in a virtual way through DreamShaper. Student participation is free and requires only that they have access to a computer with a webcam, microphone and internet connection.
