This Tuesday morning it took place in the city of Sines, in Portugal, the opening ceremony of the submarine fiber optic cable that will directly connect the Brazil the Europe.

The equipment developed by the company EllaLink should connect Fortaleza, in Brazil, with Sines, in Portugal, with passages still through French Guiana, Madeira Island, the Canary Islands and Cape Verde. In total, the submarine cable is 6 thousand kilometers long.


A infrastructure will be used for education and research, but also for cloud services and digital business.

In addition to the water route, land connections should link the cable to states like São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, and other places like Madrid, Spain and Marseille, in France.
