O Paramount + approved the project of a series derived from the musical classic 'Grease: In the Times of Brilliance' (1978) – which had previously been refused by HBO Max. O spin off Focused on the Pink Ladies group, it will have 10 episodes and will take place four years before the original movie.

Named 'Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies' ('Rise of the Pink Ladies', in literal translation), the production prequel it has even had an official synopsis revealed: "Before Rock and Roll ruled, before the T-Birds were the coolest in school, four tired outcast girls dare to have fun on their own terms, sparking a moral panic that will change Rydell High forever".

In the plot, we'll see the characters in the 1950s long before the "summer date" between Danny Zuko (John Travolta) and Sandy Olsson (Olivia Newton-John), back when the Pink Ladies and T-Birds ran the school without the presence of athletes. According to information on the website Deadline, the audience will see stories from new people, but will also follow Rizzo, Frenchy, Marty, e Jan getting to know each other before the events seen in 'In Times of the Shine'.

The sketch for 'Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies' landed on Paramount+ for development in 2020, after being scrapped by HBO Max, where the spin-off had originally been created as “a direct request” from executives, but was scrapped.

The streaming series is also the first official request for an original script since the president of Paramount Television Studios, Nicole Clemens, entered a senior role at the company as president of the Paramount+ Original Scripted Series division.

Few details have been announced about 'Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies', which has no preview yet. What we do know is that the series will be a musical, just like the movie, and must feature songs from the time, as well as original compositions. Cast names have not yet been announced for the production, which will be showrunner Annabel Oakes ('Atypical').
