Is Facebook changing its name? According to The Verge website, yes. And the exchange should take place as early as next week. The assumption is that the company will have a name that will reflect its focus on creating a metaverse. Furthermore, the change can be connected to your world of virtual reality called Horizon World.

The social network itself will likely maintain the Facebook brand and be under a new parent company, along with Instagram, WhatsApp and Oculus. This would be similar to what Google did in 2015, when it placed its various projects and divisions under its parent Alphabet.

The name change is a closely guarded secret and not even all senior leaders are aware of it. That's because Mark Zuckerberg has been talking for a long time about the desire to make Facebook a metaverse company and has been taking steps in this direction.

Earlier this year, Facebook formed a team dedicated to building a metaverse and, just a few days ago, talked about opening 10 vacancies for "highly qualified" people across the European Union over the next five years, with the goal of seals in your augmented virtual reality experiences.

Former employee Frances Haugen made a series of accusations about company policy.. Zuckerberg promptly denied them all.
